The inaugural CUNA Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) Leadership Institute wrapped up in Denver last Wednesday. The sellout institute provided attendees access to industry and non-industry leaders and ample opportunities to learn transformative ways to create and drive organizational value while meeting regulatory requirements. The three-day institute focused on interdisciplinary management opportunities surrounding the integration of governance, risk management and compliance capabilities. “Maturing your risk programs to provide increased value through tighter integration with strategy is paramount,” said Tony Ferris, CEO with Rochdale Paragon Group. “Doing risk management just for the sake of doing it is no longer good enough. It has to tie in and drive real organizational value.”

Created in partnership with industry GRC leaders from Rochdale Paragon Group, this event not only reinforced the mechanics and benefits of a GRC philosophy, but also helped attendees develop a clear action plan for integrating the components of GRC at their credit union. Based upon the success and participant feedback of this first institute, we are excited to begin planning for next year’s event. More information will be available soon.
